Parent Technical Assistance Centers -provide
Parent Centers, Parent Training and Information Centers (PTIs) and
Community Parent Resource Centers (CPRCs), with innovative technical
assistance, up-to-date information, and high quality resources and
materials. The Regional PTACs offer direct technical assistance that is
individualized for each parent center in their region. The National
PTAC, in collaboration with the Regional PTACs offers resources of
general usefulness across the parent center network.
- National PTAC (PACER)
- Region 1 PTAC (SPAN) - Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.
- Region 2 PTAC (ECAC) - Mid-south area that includes eight (8) states and the District of Columbia.
- Region 3 PTAC (Partners Resource Network) - Nine (9) southeastern states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
- Region 4 PTAC (WI FACETS) - Nine (9) midwestern states
- Region 5 PTAC (PEAK) - Ten (10) states in the Mountains region.
- Region 6 PTAC (MATRIX) - Twenty-one (21) parent centers in the far west states, Alaska, Hawaii and territories in the Pacific Rim.
Comprehensive Centers
- REGIONAL CENTERS
- Mid-Atlantic Comprehensive Center (NJ) MACC is one of the Comprehensive Centers funded by the U.S. Dept. of Education. The network of centers supports state education agencies (SEAs) to enable them to address the differentiated needs of low performing schools and districts as mandated by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB).
- New England Comprehensive Center (CT,MA,ME,NH,RI,VT) By insisting on high achievement by all students, regardless of geography or life circumstance, the No Child Left Behind Act of (NCLB) has made the need for high quality technical assistance paramount for state education leaders. The New England CC supports education leaders as they strive to meet the goals of NCLB and improve achievement.
- New York Comprehensive Center (NY) The mission of the NYCC is to develop the capacity of the New York State Education Department (NYSED) and its networks and agencies to assist districts and schools in improving achievement outcomes for all students.
- CONTENT CENTERS
- Assessment and Accountability Comprehensive Center - The AACC implements, evaluates, and improves assessment and accountability systems so that states and districts can reach the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) goal of academic proficiency for all students.
- Center on Innovation & Improvement - The Center on Innovation & Improvement supports regional centers in their work with states to provide districts, schools, and families with the opportunity, information, and skills to make wise decisions on behalf of students.
- Center on Instruction - The Center on Instruction, a partnership of five organizations, provides resources and expertise to the Regional Comprehensive Centers in reading, mathematics, science, special education, and English language learning.
- National High School Center - The National High School Center, based at the American Institutes for Research, provides the latest research, user-friendly tools and products, and high-quality technical assistance on high school improvement issues.
- National Comprehensive Center for Teacher Quality - The TQ Center was created to serve as the premier national resource to which the regional comprehensive centers, states, and other education stakeholders turn for strengthening the quality of teaching - especially in high-poverty, low-performing, and hard-to-staff schools—and for finding guidance in addressing specific needs, thereby ensuring highly qualified teachers are serving students with special needs.
Equity Assistance Centers
- New England Equity Assistance Center (NEEAC) – Region 1 (CT,MA,ME,NH,RI,VT) NEEAC provides technical assistance and professional development to help states, districts and public schools implement policies and practices that promote access to high quality education for all students.
- Equity Assistance Center – Region 2 (NJ, NY) The Region 2 EAC, housed at Touro College’s Lander Center for Educational Research, provides technical assistance on issues of race, sex and national origin to state departments of education and school districts. The center’s primary goal is promote equal access and opportunity to high quality education for all students.
Technical Assistance & Dissemination Network (TA&D) Centers
- DATA MANAGEMENT
- Data Accountability Center (DAC - DAC provides public access to data about children and youth with disabilities served under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) - Part B and C; technical assistance (TA) materials to support the collection, analysis and reporting of IDEA data; and the forms and spreadsheets used for collection.
- DEAF-BLIND
- National Consortium on Deaf-Blindness (NCDB) - The consortium focuses on two major purposes as required by OSEP. The first is to promote academic achievement and results for children and youth (from birth to age 26) who are deaf-blind, through technical assistance, model demonstration, and information dissemination activities that are supported by evidence-based practices. The second purpose is to assist in addressing state-identified needs for highly qualified personnel who have the necessary skills and knowledge to serve children and youth who are deaf-blind.
- DISPUTE RESOLUTION
- Center for Appropriate Dispute Resolution in Special Education (CADRE) - CADRE works to increase the nation’s capacity to effectively resolve special education disputes, reducing the use of expensive adversarial processes.
- DISSEMINATION
- National Dissemination Center for Children with Disabilities (NDC/NICHCY) - NICHCY provides information on disabilities in children and youth; programs and services for infants, children, and youth with disabilities; IDEA; No Child Left Behind; and research-based information on effective practices for children with disabilities.
- Project Forum - Project Forum's aim is to facilitate improved services to children and youth with disabilities by gathering and sharing information that supports changes to policy and practice at the national, state and local levels.
- Reading Rockets - Reading Rockets is a national multimedia project offering information and resources on how young kids learn to read, why so many struggle, and how caring adults can help.
- EARLY CHILDHOOD
- Center for Early Literacy Learning (CELL) - The main goal of CELL is to promote the adoption and sustained use of evidence-based early literacy learning practices by early childhood intervention practitioners, parents, and other caregivers of young children, birth to five years of age, with identified disabilities, developmental delays, and those at-risk for poor outcomes.
- CONNECT: The Center to Mobilize Early Childhood Knowledge - Transforms early childhood professional development by providing interactive, online modules that can be easily infused into existing professional development efforts that emphasize an evidence-based decision-making process and results in an early childhood workforce that is highly qualified and highly effective in working with young children.
- National Early Childhood Technical Assistance Center (NECTAC) - NECTAC serves Part C-Infant and Toddlers with Disabilities Programs and Part B-Section 619 Preschool Programs for Children with Disabilities In all 50 states and 10 jurisdictions to improve service systems and outcomes for children and families.
- National Professional Development Center on Inclusion (NPDCI) - NPDCI works with states to ensure that early childhood teachers are prepared to educate and care for young children with disabilities in settings with their typically developing peers.
- Technical Assistance Center on Social Emotional Intervention for Young Children (TACSEI) - TACSEI takes the research that shows which practices improve the social-emotional outcomes for young children with, or at risk for, delays or disabilities and creates FREE products and resources to help decision-makers, caregivers, and service providers apply these best practices in the work they do every day.
- INSTRUCTION/BEHAVIOR
- Center for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) - The TA Center on Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports has been established by the Office of Special Education Programs, US Department of Education to give schools capacity-building information and technical assistance for identifying, adapting, and sustaining effective school-wide disciplinary practices.
- National Center on Response to Intervention (RTI) - The Center’s mission is to provide technical assistance to states and districts and building the capacity of states to assist districts in implementing proven models for RTI/EIS.
- LEADERSHIP
- Center on State Implementation and Scaling-up of Evidence-based Practices (SISEP) - The purpose of SISEP is to help States establish adequate capacity to carry out effective implementation, organizational change, and systems transformation strategies to maximize the academic achievement and behavioral health outcomes of students statewide.
- IDEA Partnership - The IDEA Partnership reflects the collaborative work of more than 50 national organizations, technical assistance providers, and organizations and agencies at state and local level.
- National Institute for Urban School Improvement (NIUSI)-LeadScape
- NETWORK COORDINATION
- Technical Assistance Coordination Center (TACC) - The TACC facilitates coordination, collaboration, and communication within the TA&D Network.
- OUTCOMES
- Early Childhood Outcomes Center (ECO) - The Early Childhood Outcomes (ECO) Center provides national leadership in assisting states with the implementation of high-quality outcome systems for early intervention (EI) and early childhood special education (ECSE) programs.
- National Center on Educational Outcomes (NCEO) - NCEO was established in 1990 to provide national leadership in designing and building educational assessments and accountability systems that appropriately monitor educational results for all students, including students with disabilities and English Language Learners (ELLs).
- National Post-School Outcomes Center (NPSO) - The National Post-School Outcomes Center helps state education agencies establish practical and rigorous data collection systems that will measure and profile the post-school experiences of youth with disabilities. The results will be used for national, state, and local reporting and-most importantly-to guide and improve transition services to this population.
- PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT/PERSONNEL
- IRIS Center for Training Enhancements - The IRIS Center is a national center that aims to provide high-quality resources for college and university faculty and professional development providers about students with disabilities. IRIS seeks to obtain this goal by providing free, online, interactive training enhancements that translate research about the education of students with disabilities into practice.
- Monarch Center II: National Outreach and Technical Assistance Center on Discretionary Awards for Minority Institutions - The Monarch Center provides technical assistance, resources, and networking opportunities in pursuit of our goal of affecting positive change in the lives of children with disabilities, particularly those from culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) backgrounds.
- National Center to Improve the Recruitment and Retention of Qualified Personnel for Children with Disabilities (Personnel Improvement Center) Works to increase the nation’s capacity to recruit, prepare and retain diverse highly qualified special educators, early intervention and related service providers.
- National Center to Inform Policy and Practice in Special Education Professional Development (NCIPP) NCIPP is an Office of Special Education Programs funded center which aims to improve teacher quality and increase commitment to teaching students with disabilities.
- National Professional Development Center on Autism Spectrum Disorders - The National Professional Development Center on Autism Spectrum Disorders is a multi-university center to promote the use of evidence-based practice for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders.
- REGIONAL RESOURCE CENTERS
- Northeast Regional Resource Center (NERRC) WestEd’s Northeast Regional Resource Center (NERRC) helps state agencies in the Northeast improve their systems of early intervention, special education and transition services for children with disabilities.
- SECONDARY/POSTSECONDARY
- National Dropout Prevention Center for Students with Disabilities (NDPC-SD) - NDPC-SD was specifically established to assist in building states’ capacity to increase school completion rates for students with disabilities through knowledge synthesis, technical assistance, and dissemination of interventions and practices that work.
- National Secondary Transition Technical Assistance Center (NSTTAC) - NSTTAC helps states build capacity to support and improve transition planning, services, and outcomes for youth with disabilities and disseminate information and provide technical assistance on scientifically-based research practices with an emphasis on building and sustaining state-level infrastructures of support and district-level demonstrations of effective transition methods for youth with disabilities.
- Postsecondary Education Programs Network (PEPNet) - Northeast
- TECHNOLOGY
- Center for Implementing Technology in Education (CITEd) - CITEd identifies evidence-based practices for integrating instructional technology to support the achievement of all students.
- Family Center on Technology and Disability (FCTD) - The FCTD is a resource designed to support organizations and programs that work with families of children and youth with disabilities. We offer a range of information and services on the subject of assistive and instructional technologies.
- NIMAS TA Center-National Center on Accessible Instructional Materials (AIM) - The NIMAS Center maintains and updates the National Instructional Materials Accessibility Standard (NIMAS), which guides the production of digital versions of textbooks and related instructional materials so they can be more easily converted to accessible formats, including Braille and text-to-speech.
